The Power of Thought

” I am the world’s greatest “

I have always pondered on the mindset Muhammad Ali had to boldly state this to the world

Infact Ali’s place in boxing history as one of the greatest fighters ever is secure. His final record of 56 wins and 5 losses with 37 knockouts has been matched by others, but the quality of his opponents and the manner in which he dominated during his prime placed him on a plateau with boxing’s immortals.

The interesting thing is Ali said this even before he knew he was, and even though there have been other great boxers through time , anytime anyone says the phrase I am the worlds greatest everyone thinks of him. He repeated those words in private and public until he embodied greatness and the world associated him with greatness

Love them or hate them, rappers and hip hop artists often use words as ways to affirm themselves, others and their position in the world as artists , which results to them making their mark in billboard positions and their fans psyche

Words are sounds that carry Energy

Words vibrate at different Frequencies

I want to explore the vibration of words and frequency of The “ I AM “

“ I am “ – indicates the speaker’s existence, you define yourself to “YOU” and the world

When complimentary words are spoken to you, you feel good and quite the opposite when harsh, unkind words are spoken to you.

Somehow the body picks the frequency of the words used and even if you don’t fully understand the language your body does, by picking up the frequency of the words used.

The human body is made of 50- 80% water depending on your hydration levels, age etc

A Japanese researcher and healer, Dr. Emoto conducted experiments on water molecules. In his studies, Emoto found that water exposed to positive words and intentions formed beautiful, symmetrical crystalline structures when the water was frozen, while water exposed to negative words and intentions formed disorganized, asymmetrical structures. This could explain how the human body picks up on the frequencies in words.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and felt uncomfortable like they were not being genuine with you? Well you could have been picking up the frequencies from their words.

I AM is the most powerful command statement there is because it allows you to be who you consciously choose to be. Everytime we start a sentence with I AM we are affirming the words that follow as our truth…

Your thoughts have frequency too, your thoughts release chemicals which are sent throughout your body, this makes your body feel as you think.

Your every thought produces a biochemical reaction in the brain. The brain then releases chemical signals that are transmitted to the body, where they act as the messengers of the thought. The thoughts that produce the chemicals in the brain allow your body to feel exactly the way you were just thinking. So every thought produces a chemical that is matched by a feeling in your body. Essentially, when you think happy, inspiring, or positive thoughts, your brain manufactures chemicals that make you feel joyful, inspired, or uplifted. For example, when you anticipate an experience that is pleasurable, the brain immediately makes a chemical neurotransmitter called dopamine, which turns the brain and body on in anticipation of that experience and causes you to begin to feel excited. If you have hateful, angry, or self- deprecating thoughts, the brain also produces chemicals called neuropeptides that the body responds to in a comparable way. You feel hateful, angry, or unworthy. You see, your thoughts immediately do become matter.( Evolve your brain , Joe Dispenza)

“As a man thinketh so is he “ ( Proverbs 23:7)

“ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ( Proverbs 18:21 )

It’s clear that there is a correlation between our thoughts and our words which affect our behaviors over time.

Our thoughts shape our reality , what we think over time we become. This is why it’s important to monitor our thoughts and focus on thoughts that align us to the future we desire as opposed

to what we don’t.

Our thoughts are a reflection of what you think of yourself, and this brings me to the “I AM “ statement..

Everytime you speak the words I AM you are creating your life and environment, you are commanding yourself to become the words you are speaking and therefore dictating your state of being, that’s powerful.

To continuously create a state of positivity and what you desire for your life , start working from within you

Start with the thoughts you have of yourself and use affirmative words. It might be challenging at first but in time you will feel and see the difference in your life.

This is what Ali meant when he said he said he was the greatest even before he knew he was. He said he was great before his reality proved he was

He spoke this publicly and privately

Privately to align his thoughts, body and character with someone who is great , meaning he trained differently, behaved like someone great ( this could include what he ate and the discipline he had over himself) and thought he was great which in time formed the self belief and trust within himself something you need when facing an opponent.

What “I AM affirmations are you ready to embody in your life?

Messy Middle – Transformation

Every time we decide to pursue our goals, achieve something or become more, the price to pay is our old self… the process between where you are and what you want, be it a new role, a spouse, a new life etc requires you to BE different. becoming the next version of yourself that you aspire to means letting go and death of your former self, Identity, beliefs and associations. You are becoming a new creation.

Within this process we have several stages. I will focus on the incubation stage, the stage almost everyone hates. Often during times of incubation there are certain parts of ourselves that die because those parts of ourselves are not needed in our next level. This process is one of the most painful ones, it can take a short while or a very long time depending on how deep the transformation is.

When we look at a butterfly we think how beautiful and unique they all are , we often speak of their transformation but no one really spends time to speak about the messy middle, the time the caterpillar is in a Chrysalis in the dark by itself, its most vulnerable time in existence. During this time if you were to cut open the Chrysalis the caterpillar will die. This is how crucial this time is for the caterpillar.

The Chrysalis is actually part of the caterpillar’s body, for a start the caterpillar’s outer coating separates from its body much like a snake’s skin, and this creates the Chrysalis. After the chrysalis forms, the body releases enzymes called caspases that dissolve cells in the insect’s muscles and organs, leaving behind only the most vital life-supporting cells. It’s from this point that a group of specialized cells called imaginal discs get to work, developing the insect’s new body and wings in a short time period. When the  fully developed butterfly emerges, it often leaves behind a gooey fluid in the spent chrysalis. This fluid is the waste that was produced during the transformation, including the bodily fluids that the butterfly won’t need anymore.

Metaphorically speaking this is similar to what happens to us leaving the old self behind, the experiences , beliefs systems, perception etc behind that we do not need in the next chapter for those experiences have no room in the new us. You can see how necessary this is for the caterpillar to Chrysalis is actually part of the caterpillar’s body, for a start the caterpillar’s outer coating separates from its body much like a snake’s skin, and this creates the Chrysalis. You can see how necessary this is for the caterpillar to become the butterfly imagine how much more us who continue to live on for many more years and still go through this process

We experience the incubation period many times in our lives with varying degrees, to the point that if someone hasn’t seen us for a long time the first thing they say is that you have changed! Of Course you have, its meant to be a compliment.

A similar thing happens to snakes, they shed their skin to allow for further growth and to remove parasites that may have attached to their old skin. As a snake grows, its skin becomes stretched. It’s one of the reasons why snakes are also symbols of transformation. Single day our cells are being renewed, meaning parts of us die whether we are cognisant of it or not. In order for you to achieve the thing you desire in your heart, you need to grow, growth is never linear and can at times look like regression as in the case of the caterpillar. Whilst it’s in the Chrysalis, the outside world sees it as stagnant, and almost going backwards because it’s not fulfilling or moving about as it did but to the discerning eye it’s a different story. And as we are in this cocoon, the internal process which happens in obscurity is seen once we break out of the old identity stepping into what we desire. It’s not an easy process but necessary all together for our evolution.
